Description

BASSMA is a Lebanese nonprofit organization for social Development founded in 2002 by dynamic volunteers who had two things in common: their love for their country and their desire to change the very unstable socioeconomic situation of the most deprived.
They decided to fight poverty and work together for a better society by creating a humanitarian organization that rallies citizens for the social Lebanese cause. BASSMA was officially born.

PRINCIPLES OF ACTION
1. Neutrality: BASSMA provides assistance to the Lebanese civil population regardless of political or religious affiliations.
2. Action Plan: BASSMA implements short, medium and long term Objectives for each family leading it to self-sufficiency.
3. Family Autonomy: Our Rehabilitation Program aims at helping families reach long-term financial autonomy, thus becoming productive members of society.
4. Collaboration with the families: BASSMA adapts its methods of intervention to local family customs in order to establish strong and sincere bonds with the assisted families.
5. Commitment: BASSMA members are trained and ready to work under difficult conditions

METHODOLOGY
– Weekly personal follow-up of each family on the long-term
– Provision of all the material, financial and moral support and know-how that family members need to become self-sufficient
– Coordination with official entities to ensure quality life.

PROGRAMS

BASSMA implements its mission through 4 main programs.

I- Families’ Rehabilitation & Empowerment
This program targets all family members including parents, widows, youth, children, babies, elderly, and other relatives. They benefit from the services of below projects:
1. Food for all: monthly packs of food and sanitary products.
2. Clothes for All: monthly packs of new and used clothes.
3. Health Care: primary, secondary and tertiary.
– Diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease, illness, injury, in medicine,
optometry, dentistry, nursing, pharmacy, allied health.
– Mental health, Psychology and Psychiatry
4. Medical Insurance: to all family members
5. House Renovation: Reparations, Refurbishments, Restorations, and Rent
Payment.
6. Educational for all:
– Nurseries, Schools and Universities fees, books, uniforms, transportation and material
– Tutoring Lessons
7. Night School
8. Employment Office: Professional Trainings, Workshops, and Job Matching.
9. Activities: cultural events, celebrations, outings, and summer camps.
10. Youth Development: Arts, Sports, and Prevention sessions
11. Personalized care: moral support through daily contact with family members
who benefit from fast responses to their needs.
12. Annual budget: each family benefit from an annual amount of money for daily
expenses and emergencies.

II- Elderly Social Assistance
1. Smiles Restaurants: offering daily hot meals
2. Dinner Delivery: offering daily cooked meals
3. House Renovation: Reparations, Refurbishments, Restorations, and Rent
Payment.
4. Health Care: primary, secondary and tertiary.
5. Clothes for All: monthly packs of new and used clothes.
6. Elderly care: moral support through daily contact

III- Children Protection and Social Reintegration
1. Respect and defense of Human Rights
2. Ensure Safe & Secure living conditions
3. Coordinate and Follow-up with official and legal entities

IV- Public Awareness on Poverty
Organization of Ad Campaigns, Presentations, Projects, Competitions and other Poverty-awareness activities that promote social action and emphasize the importance of Civic Engagement for the development of Lebanon.
